Common Treatments for Post-Op Recovery
Everyone’s body is different, so we’ll work closely with you and your surgeon to create an evidence-based post-op rehabilitation plan that suits your individual needs.
Pre-surgical rehabilitation (aka ‘prehab’) is a way to optimise your body and build resilience prior to an operation.
This process is tailored to your individual goals, with a focus on strength building, fitness and education. By working strategically, based on what you want to achieve, prehab services can help to manage pain, optimise your mobility and ensure you’re as strong as possible to improve post-op outcomes.
The first stage of post-op recovery is usually the management of acute pain and controlling swelling.
This can be a sensitive process, and we’ll work with you to find what your body needs using techniques such as soft tissue mobilisation, gentle exercises, acupuncture, and cold or heat therapy.
Recovering strength can be key to recovering confidence after surgery.
Starting gently and progressing as your pain and mobility allow, post-op strength training targets local muscles and looks at your full chain to optimise movement patterns and keep your muscles balanced.
Movement is freedom, making your range of motion an important part of post-surgical rehab for both physical and mental wellbeing.
Through joint mobilisations, deep tissue release and stretches, we’ll work to improve your range of motion with the aim of getting you back to baseline - and beyond.
We believe recovery means improving your ability to do the ‘normal’ things in life.
Whether for your work, sport or hobbies, we’ll tailor a training plan based on your surgeon’s recovery recommendations and your own personal goals to reintroduce you to your old routines.
