Do You Need a Sports Massage?
If you’re feeling any of the following symptoms, your physio may recommend deep-tissue massage therapy as a treatment option.
Lasting Muscle Pain
Frequent Cramps
Stiffness or Lack of Flexibility
Problems with Circulation
Muscle Fatigue
Slow Recovery After Sports Events
Benefits of Sports Massage Therapy
Sports massage therapy is a common treatment technique among athletes and non-athletes alike, helping to improve recovery from injury, warm down after exercise or prepare for future sporting events. The fact that it can be highly relaxing, tackling stress and anxiety at the same time, is a nice bonus!
Sports physio massage is a deep-tissue massage which targets muscle fibres deep within the body. This can relieve the body of tightness and knotting, while also improving blood circulation to the target area.
These factors can relieve those feelings of muscle stiffness and post-event ache, getting you back in the action sooner.
Working stiff or sore muscles, or muscles that you expect to use at an upcoming sporting event, promotes good blood flow and can improve flexibility.
While these offer benefits after an event, they can also help you prepare for one - freeing you up and encouraging good circulation to reduce the risk of pain or injury.
Massage is a common treatment option in sports performance physio, helping athletes recover from their injuries and helping to prevent them from returning.
It can offer immediate pain relief and improved mobility, as well as enhance circulation to reduce inflammation and promote healing.
